Tamasha is currently accepting applications for 2016. All performing arts mediums, including but not limited to theatre, music, dance, performance art, slam poetry, and stand up comedy are welcome. Artists/groups can participate with a full production (45 minutes or longer) or with shorter works (to be programmed as part of Tamasha's Artist Showcases) .
The festival encourages experimental works that are high-concept and low-tech. Projects must include either one artist of South Asian origin and/or a thematic/plot element that explores issues concerning South Asia and/or the South Asian diaspora. The one artist can be a performer, a member of the creative team, or a technical hire.
Artists/groups will receive a percentage of the ticket revenue. There will be no other compensation provided to artists/groups.
The festival will take place in Manhattan. Out-of-town artists must make their own travel and lodging reservations as well as organize their own visas (we will provide a letter of acceptance and support to all international artists who are accepted to the festival).
Make sure to read the FAQ before you submit or contact us with questions.
